自我介紹 Self-introduction:

By way of introduction, my name is Verona Yu. I was born and raised in Hangzhou and Shanghai. Upon high school graduation, I came to the United States for college and graduated with distinction from Cornell University, where I pursued triple-majors in Economics, Mathematics, and Computer Science.

I currently work in finance and live in New York. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the world. I have traveled to six different continents. Highlights include founding a college debate camp in South Africa, shooting photos in the Sahara Desert, and diving in the Red Sea. I also love creating art. I often paint, play the piano, write music, and study philosophy. I have also been playing the guzheng since I was six years old and was nationally ranked at one point.

My passion for art led to a curiosity about the creative industry. This is what motivated me to intern at CCTV, where I learned firsthand about production and directing. I hope to bring these experiences to the Miss Chinese Beauty Pageant. I aspire to share Chinese culture globally, increase Asian representation in the entertainment industry, and serve as a role model for young women across the world. Thank you!

"The word “charity” is often used to mean monetary donation, and this short film aims to explore charity from a different perspective. It starts with the most common view of charity and then evolves by using masquerade, exaggerated editing, and intentional misspelling. At the turning point, the film aims to demonstrate that forging authentic connections with people is paramount. Giving our time and love is just as important as contributing financially. Everything in the film, including the music, is my original creation. With a personal touch, I want to invite the viewers to reflect the charity means to them truly."
